Huge or Tiny? Any Hurdle Can Trip Up your Business

Every business will face their own bottlenecks. Particularly for small organically-grown businesses, challenges are inevitable.
It's important to remember this isn't necessarily a negative. Just a reality. The most successful businesses often develop bottlenecks after a couple of years of thriving, simply due to the pace of their growth.
The key to continued success is understanding what you're up against. Not all hurdles are the same height. If you don't know how to recognise the reality of your bottlenecks, you won't realise until it's too late. 50% of small businesses fail within 5 years. Let us help you defy this statistic...
Big or Small?
Some problems are massive and stop you in your tracks. These bottlenecks demand to be broken. The problem is they're rare.
Others are more easily ignored. They slow you down. You're not working your best, but it's fine, right? These are the far more common, far more insidious bottlenecks that really could be the downfall of your business.
That's because those rare big bottlenecks rarely appear out of nowhere. They often start out as a small niggle. It's not ideal, but it's 'good enough'.

What about when 'good enough' is no longer good enough?
We regularly talk with people who recognise in their own business the common issues that we speak about. But they don't change anything. Obviously, bottlenecks can't be broken unless everyone is fully invested. If it's not a priority for you, you'll struggle to make a difference.
But it's worth taking seriously. Think about where you want your business to be. Planning for growth? Or even just want to take a step back and get more time to yourself? Suddenly, those small niggles can become real problems. Sorting them now gives you the freedom and potential for the future.
Even if your future plans don't involve massive change, accumulation over time can turn your small bottleneck into an urgent jam. A lack of the right technology might not be a big problem now, but with more data and busier schedules in the future, you'll find it holding you back from getting stuff done.
9 times out of 10, tackling the problem now saves you money and time in the future.
"Ok, but I really don't have time to do it right now. How do I know it's really that important?"
We get it. Sometimes you really don't feel you have the time. You need to prioritise. But how?
The answer is seemingly simple, but more challenging than you think! Honesty.
Most of the time you'll find people aren't totally honest about their bottlenecks at first. Even if they recognise the problem, they're likely to downplay the severity, even to themselves. Ask yourself the difficult questions. The more you'd rather not, the more important the answer.
Go deep into the problem. This way you have the best idea possible about which bottlenecks are manageable and which you need to fix... now.
Know you've got bottlenecks to break through, but not sure how or where to start? That's where we come in!
