Get Uncomfortable to Get Comfortable

If you feel you need to make changes in your business, then you are almost certainly going to need to step out of your comfort zone to get the desired results.

In the changing landscape of business during and post the Covid pandemic, those businesses that seem to have best survived, and indeed thrived, are those that have been nimble and agile. Not only have they identified a new way of working, they have been relatively quick about it.

Successfully exited entrepreneur and business mentor Andy Yates agrees: ‘The reality is so many businesses have had to rip up the rulebook and completely change their businesses or go bust.’

What can we learn from this?

We took a look at some of the businesses that adapted and performed well during the pandemic to see what they had in common...

Key indicators in the business:

  • Flexibility.

  • Digital technology.

  • A less burdensome environment.

  • Innovation.

Key characteristics of pioneering entrepreneurs:

  • Determination.

  • Focus.

  • Resilience.

Many of us identify with these properties, but it's vital that you hold a mirror up to your business - and yourself! - to identify your strengths and weaknesses. There's always space to push yourself further.

But isn't stress a bad thing?

We hear so much these days about the effects of stress on our performance. Although the adverse effects of long-term stress are well documented, the right amount of stress can be motivating and exhilarating.

Our bodies release adrenaline and as long as it is moderate and not too long lasting, stress can help us focus and ‘get in the flow’. Moving out of your confidence zone expand feelings of confidence and capability. Break the boundaries and explore your business' potential.
